A sensitive rehabilitation in the heart of Ciutat Vella that strips bare the original architecture stone arches and wooden structures to dress it in interior design defined by pure lines and quiet sophistication.
Located in the historic Gothic Quarter, this home is an exercise in balance between heritage preservation and modern life. The project focused on recovering the essence of the building envelope, stripping walls and restoring structural elements that had been hidden for centuries. Upon this history-laden canvas, Isa de Luca’s intervention introduces a new layer of minimalist design, noble materials, and studied technical lighting to create a functional home that respects the solemnity of its surroundings.
The social area is a space of immediate visual impact, defined by the power of the recovered stone walls and the height of the ceilings with exposed wooden beams. Strategically placed indirect lighting bathes these historic textures, emphasizing their relief and creating a warm, theatrical atmosphere.
The kitchen is inserted into this context as an element of radical contrast. Conceived as a monolithic volume with refined lines and dark finishes, its technical and minimalist design dialogues through opposition with the artisanal imperfection of the original architecture, integrating without imposing.
In the bathrooms, stone remains the common thread but is treated in a contemporary way. Large-format cladding in natural tones and sculptural solid stone basins create wellness spaces that evoke the solidity of ancient thermal baths from a current perspective.
