A refurbishment in the heart of La Cerdanya that transforms traditional architecture into a modern refuge, where natural wood and views of the Pyrenean landscape dictate the home’s atmosphere.
Located in the picturesque village of Age, this home is projected as a lookout point towards nature. The intervention respects the original stone and slate envelope but revolutionizes the interior through an open layout that maximizes natural light. The interior design seeks a balance between vernacular rustic aesthetics and current comfort, using a palette of noble materials and warm textures.
The day area is conceived as a large open-plan space designed for gathering. The living room, presided over by a fireplace integrated into bespoke wooden cabinetry, opens to the exterior through large sliding windows that frame the mountains like a living canvas, blurring the boundary with the garden.
The kitchen, dressed entirely in wood with a pronounced grain and dark-toned countertops, adds character and solidity, connecting fluidly with a dining area illuminated by lightweight suspended fixtures. The furniture combines leather, wool textiles, and black accents to lend a note of industrial sophistication to the alpine setting.
In the night area and bathrooms, wood remains the common thread, bringing warmth to window reveals and countertops, while the cladding and decorative details maintain an intimate and cozy scale, perfect for resting after a day in the mountains.
