A rehabilitation on Barcelona’s “Golden Mile” where the ornamental richness of the original ceilings coexists with refined interior design, creating a sublime dialogue between history and modernity.
Located right on Paseo de Gracia, this home is a masterful example of historical recovery. The project focused on restoring the “architectural shell,” highlighting the impressive painted ceilings and gilded moldings to turn it into a stage for contemporary living. The intervention introduces current design pieces and noble materiality that respects the hierarchy of the stately spaces.
The grand living room is the undisputed protagonist, crowned by a meticulously recovered coffered ceiling featuring frescoes and gold leaf details. The low-profile furniture in light tones rests on a blue rug that evokes the movement of water, providing a vibrant counterpoint to the room’s classic solemnity.
The transition between spaces is celebrated through large arches and recovered doors. The use of antiqued mirrors in the joinery of the night area stands out, multiplying the light and adding a patina of mystery and antique elegance.
In contrast to the noble area, the kitchen opts for absolute minimalism: pure white fronts and a large wooden island mark a shift towards technical functionality, enlivened by colorful geometric patterned textiles that break the seriousness. The bathrooms, clad in cream marble and dark grey stone, offer a wellness refuge with whirlpool bathtubs and carefully curated lighting.
